Our story and our way

Still a Jersey club. Just a much bigger one.

Founded in the 1990s and run the same way we always have.

Our philosophy

is

simple.

Fun

comes

first.

The Sports Bug Way

Fun, confidence, participation, development. In that order.

Our philosophy is simple. Fun comes first. We believe children learn, grow and thrive best when they are happy, active and supported by caring, qualified staff who love what they do. That belief runs through everything we do, not just football, and it works in this order.

1

Fun

If it is not fun, nothing else follows. Every session starts here.

2

Confidence

Children who are enjoying themselves try things. Trying things builds confidence.

3

Participation

Confident children join in, with the sport, with the group, with the day.

4

Development

Development is what happens when the first three are in place. It is never the starting point.

Whether your child is at holiday club, at an after-school club, in a school session or on a Saturday morning pitch, this is what to expect from us.

Where we started, and how we grew

Sports Bug’s story starts in the 1990s, when Tim Le Feuvre founded the business under its original name, Hot Shots. Andy Glover took over in the 2010s, before current owner Danny Cutland took over in 2021. Danny first came along as a child in the 1990s and later worked for both Tim and Andy, so Sports Bug has been part of his life for a long time!

Coming out of COVID, we hit the ground running. We’ve grown from just six hours of coaching in schools and nurseries each week in autumn 2021 to around 350 hours in autumn 2026, with over ten full-time staff.

Our holiday clubs have grown along with us. At Christmas in 2021, Corey and Ben looked after just 12 children. By summer 2026, we were welcoming over 300 children a day across three sites.

Behind that growth is our hardworking team, the quality of the sessions they deliver across most of Jersey’s schools, and the trust families put in us. Many of our staff came to Sports Bug as children too, making it even more special to see them giving the next generation the same happy memories.

As we’ve grown, we’ve also recognised that children need extra care and support alongside the sport and fun. That led us to introduce our Welfare Team, who help children settle in, build confidence and feel included.

We’ve added plenty more choice along the way too. From scooters and Nerf games to woodland adventures, dancing and arts and crafts, there’s something for everyone, whether they love sport or prefer a different kind of adventure.

Our recent partnership with Jersey Bulls has brought another holiday club and exciting opportunities for young footballers. You can find out more on our Jersey Bulls partnership page.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and we have huge plans for 2027. There’s plenty more to come from Sports Bug!

"My twins have been playing football on Saturdays for the last year. Danny and his team are always welcoming, polite and amazing with the children. They have gone over and above to provide a child centred approach. I have now booked in for your holiday club services."
